Arrival to the ViCoM conference "From Electrons to Phase Transition"

location: Christian Doppler lecture hall, Faculty of Physics, Strudlhofgasse 4/Boltzmanngasse 5, 1090 Vienna

 

Arriving by train

Vienna is well connected to the international rail network. International trains arrive at Vienna Hauptbahnhof. From there you can take the underground, buses and/or trams.

To venue by taxi: Find taxis directly in front of the arrival hall - journey time approx. 15 minutes.

by underground and tram:
U1 from Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof to Praterstern (direction Oberlaa)
U2 from Praterstern to Schottentor (direction Karlsplatz)
Tram 37, 38, 40, 41, 42 to Spitalgasse/Währingerstraße (2 stops)
Walk one block back along Währinger Straße and take the first street to the left (Strudlhofgasse). The entrance to the Faculty is at Strudlhofgasse 4 & at Boltzmanngasse 5.


Arriving at the Airport Vienna

by taxi: Find taxis directly in front of the arrival hall – journey time approx. 30 minutes

by CAT (City Airport Train) or Railway System S7 will take you directly into the city of Vienna to railway station Landstraße/Wien-Mitte.
Finally take underground and tram:
U4 from Landstraße/Wien-Mitte to Schottenring (direction Heiligenstadt)
U2 from Schottenring to Schottentor (direction Karlsplatz)
Tram 37, 38, 40, 41 or 42 to Spitalgasse/Währingerstraße
Walk one block back along Währinger Straße and take the first street to the left (Strudlhofgasse). The entrance to the Faculty of Physics is at Strudlhofgasse 4 & at Boltzmanngasse 5.


Moving around in Vienna
Vienna has an efficient public transportation system. You can easily purchase different tickets at the shops called „Trafik“, in the ticket machines at the underground stations or online. The 72-h Vienna ticket is a good way of moving around in Vienna.
For those who plan to do some sightseeing while they are in Vienna, the Vienna Card might be the right choice. It is also valid for 72 hours and entitles you to reduced rates when visiting museums, exhibitions, etc. You can buy the Vienna Card at the airport, in most hotels or order it online.
